4 Monos Aguja del Fraile is sourced from four small plots in the town of Cadalso de los Vidrios, in the Sierra de Gredos. The vines, aged between 60 and 80 years, are rooted in decomposed granite soils at 850–880 metres above sea level. Farmed with environmentally friendly practices, the grapes are harvested by hand at optimum ripeness.
In the cellar, each plot is vinified separately in small tanks. After a period of cold maceration, whole clusters undergo spontaneous fermentation lasting nearly a month. The wine is then matured for 14–15 months in French and Austrian oak barrels.
