Lukas Van Loggerenberg Break a Leg Merlot

£17.00

Availability: 6 in stock

The name of this wine pays tribute to Lukas’ first vintage in 2016. During his inaugural harvest, Lukas underwent two major knee surgeries, symbolised on the label by the leg in a brace and the silhouette of a man plotting his next move. With the support of friends and family, everything came together in the end.

This wine celebrates the hard times that must be overcome and serves as a reminder to never give up. In the same spirit as wishing a performer to “break a leg,” the name honours the dedication and effort required to achieve one’s goals.

Although Lukas had not initially planned to make Merlot, he discovered an exceptional vineyard source and decided to give it a try. He sought a red to add to his “Break a Leg” series, and with this Merlot, he achieved his aim of creating a Monday-night red that consistently overdelivers.

This vintage comprises 70% of grapes from Stellenbosch Kloof, with the remainder sourced from the Devon Valley. Both regions are renowned for their clay-rich granite soils, producing wines with remarkable structure.
