Château Reynon, Bordeaux

Uniting the winemaking expertise of the late Denis Dubourdieu with an underrated region, Château Reynon is an easy-drinking red Bordeaux, described by Jancis Robinson as both “stunning value” and “sophisticated.” It is located in Beguey, near the town of Cadillac on the right bank of the Garonne, with limestone vineyards sloping towards the river on south-east facing soils. The château’s origins date back to the 15th century, but it was under Denis Dubourdieu’s ownership that Château Reynon truly flourished. Originally, the estate was best known for its dry white Bordeaux made from Sauvignon Blanc. Denis restructured the vineyards with red varieties, and today the estate produces red, white, and rosé wines. In vintages where noble rot develops favourably, a small quantity of sweet wine is also made.
